Adding a Bluetooth module to your lighting? Yes, that’s possible!

Do you not have the necessary wiring for your desired lighting functions? Then you can add a bluetooth module to most of our profiles as a solution. This will unlock many extra functionality options for your lighting.

We can equip your light profile with a bluetooth module if you want to add, for example, a dimming function to your lighting. This is mainly a solution for smaller projects and especially renovations, where it is not always possible to provide extra cables or wiring.

The Bluetooth module: active or passive?

If you opt for this bluetooth option, you can choose between an active or passive module. An active module is suitable for controlling 1 DALI driver. A passive module must be equipped with its own DALI power supply and can control up to 30 DALI drivers per power supply. This unit can then be grouped in different rooms and is fully controllable via a free app on the smartphone. The app you can use for this Casambi system is the remote 4T app from Tridonic.

Best behind the satin diffuser

This module can be built into most of our profiles, but is best placed behind our satin diffuser so the bluetooth signal will not be disrupted. If the profile also offers indirect lighting, this is not a problem. If the profile provides only direct lighting, then a piece of plexi of around 80mm will not be illuminated. Alternatively, the module can also be placed behind a blind plate, but this sometimes poses a risk to the Bluetooth signal. As a manufacturer we therefore always recommend that the module is placed behind the satin diffuser.

Five-wire electrical system is best for new building projects

We see that bluetooth modules are sometimes also chosen for new building projects, while this could be avoided if the right arrangements are made in advance. Instead of the standard three-wire electrical diagram, you can choose to use a five-wire network. With a five-wire network, you have two additional wires for dimming functions, for example.

Best achter plexi
