EDF NV from Waregem: “Our most frequently used lighting product? The Rekta light line”
EDF NV operates as a large-scale total installer of electrical installations across West and East Flanders. For project lighting, EDF has relied on Multiline for at least 30 years. Jonas (CFO at EDF) explains why he considers this collaboration a foundation for successful projects: “We know we can rely on Multiline, so we feel confident from the very start of every project.”
Trust and short communication lines form the foundation
The collaboration between EDF and Multiline goes back a long way: founder Freddy Decaigny already knew the Rahne family from the early days of Multiline. This long-standing relationship is still reflected today in the way both companies work together.
“Not only in the past with the previous generation, but also today with the current contacts, there are short communication lines. Fast switching, quick clarity, finding solutions quickly… That often makes the difference in delivering projects on time,” Jonas emphasizes.
A proactive project approach: working together to prevent issues
Jonas explains that EDF increasingly involves suppliers already in the proposal or preparation phase to identify potential bottlenecks before they arise on site. This approach aligns well with Multiline, as they actively provide advice on:
- Technical feasibility
- The right product choices per space
- Delivery times
- Support with lighting calculations and specifications
A product range suited for public tenders
When EDF works through public tenders, the framework is clear: specifications, requirements, budgets, and deadlines are fixed. In this environment, a luminaire must not only meet technical standards but also be practical and reliably deliverable.
Jonas describes Multiline’s product range as “perfect for our application,” precisely because it is suitable for many situations. “We are happy to include Multiline products in our proposals. Why? Because they deliver what the client expects: quality, predictability, and the ability to think along on a project basis, regardless of the type of project or building.”
Quality with minimal failure (and service when needed)
In large projects, costs are not limited to purchase and installation, but also include everything that follows: failures, replacements, service, and follow-up. Jonas highlights an important point: “Multiline products have very low failure rates. And if something does arise, fast support is essential. That aligns with Multiline’s service: solutions are not left pending, but handled immediately.”
Rekta as a standard in diverse projects
One product that EDF installs very frequently is the Rekta light line. “Probably the most used product in our projects. For example, in projects such as the new Elia office building in Kruisem and the residential care village in Torhout, where a large volume had to be installed in a short time. In addition, we install linear lighting with Multiline products in various other environments: schools, public buildings, residential care centers, cultural centers, and office buildings.”
“Dimmable luminaires and smart controls are also becoming increasingly important in this context, depending on the space and the expectations of the client or consulting engineer.”
Discover some of our Rekta luminaires:
- Rekta 20 Wide Optic: efficient lighting for flexible layouts
- Rekta 65 EKP: the perfect lighting solution for metal climate ceilings
- Rekta 20: fits neatly between the slats of a SAPP or 30BD climate ceiling
Technology and expectations are evolving rapidly
Finally, Jonas points out that the market is changing quickly. “For EDF, it is a challenge to always know what ‘the right solution’ is, as lighting technology, standards, and expectations continue to evolve. That is precisely why a partner who thinks along, adjusts, and provides realistic advice is so valuable in projects under time pressure.”
