A carefully designed lighting plan for the new SEW-Eurodrive Office
SEW-Eurodrive recently opened a new building in Haasrode, an impressive project of approximately 8,000 m² featuring innovative architecture and specific lighting requirements. Multiline was tasked with designing a lighting plan for the office and social spaces. An exciting challenge for our lighting architects: how do we create a lighting design that seamlessly blends aesthetics, functionality, and energy efficiency? Thanks to our expertise, we developed a solution that met all expectations and standards.
The combination of industrial functionality and architectural finesse required a thoughtful approach. We designed detailed lighting plan that not only provided optimal illumination for the workspaces but also enhanced the building’s dynamic character. This project gave us the opportunity to think creatively and make a real impact.
Everything starts with a thoughtful lighting design
Our team was involved early in the process to provide guidance on suitable fixtures and lighting solutions. The architectural firm WAAGA and the engineering company Ingenium Group were already familiar with our product range, which ensured a smooth collaboration.
Striking the right balance between aesthetics and lighting technology was essential in designing the lighting plan. Pendant fixtures were implemented as eye-catchers in certain offices, allowing a pop of colour and higher acoustical values within the room. To meet office lighting standards while achieving this visual impact, we developed a tailored solution. By combining functional lighting with decorative accents, we created a cohesive and visually appealing result that met both visual expectations and technical requirements.
Flexible integration of lighting with Rekta 30
For the open landscape offices, Rekta 30 SAPP was chosen as long light lines with a louvre to ensure a uniform light distribution. These luminaires are designed to replace a ceiling slat, in this case, a SAPP ceiling from Interalu.
In other areas, such as the training room, cafeteria, and multipurpose room, a more varied approach was taken with shorter dashed light lines. In the circulation areas, we used pendant luminaires with tubular spotlights and downlight modules with lenses. All of these feature variations of our Rekta 30.
The versatility of Rekta 30 provided not only design flexibility but also ensured a consistent aesthetic throughout the office. Additionally, all luminaires were equipped with DALI for efficient control and energy savings.
Collaboration and customization
Customization played a key role in this project. The installer benefited from tailor-made lighting with precise dimensions, offering a clear advantage over standard solutions. At the same time, the architects maintained the freedom to make specific adjustments to align the lighting perfectly with their vision. Thanks to the flexibility and expertise of our production team, we were able to meet these requirements seamlessly.
A harmonious lighting concept as result
The result is a building with lighting that not only meets technical requirements but also enhances a pleasant and efficient working environment. The combination of customization and variation led to a high-quality project. SEW-Eurodrive now enjoys a lighting system that perfectly balances aesthetics and functionality.

Lighting in Public Buildings: From Cost Item to Sustainable Investment
Lighting in public buildings is often assessed primarily on the basis of standards, budgets and specifications. This is understandable, but not sufficient. Those who focus solely on delivery frequently pay the price later in the form of high maintenance costs, limited flexibility or premature failures. At Multiline, we approach lighting in public buildings as a strategic investment that must continue to perform reliably over the long term.
