Innovative lighting in our own facility: a new cafeteria with a felt ceiling
At Multiline, we understand better than anyone how important it is to create a functional and atmospheric environment, not just for our clients but for our own team as well. That is why we recently built a new cafeteria, completely in line with our expertise in lighting and interior design. In this blog, we show you how we have integrated our products into a space that is both practical and inspiring.

The idea for a new cafeteria had been in the works for several years. The old refectory no longer met our standards, both in terms of acoustics and usability. Our goal? To create a modern, multifunctional space where colleagues can take breaks, have lunch, give presentations, attend training sessions, host events, and more. We also wanted to take the acoustics as well as the atmosphere into account. At the same time, this project offered the opportunity to showcase our products to clients and partners.

The cafeteria accommodates 28 people and features stylish, timeless furniture. The grey flooring and light beige ceiling provide a neutral foundation, while accessories add a personal touch. The new cafeteria is equipped with a fully functional kitchen, complete with all the necessary appliances, providing our team with every convenience. Additionally, the adjacent terrace will be expanded to offer even more collegiality and relaxation during lunch breaks.
Acoustics and design go hand in hand
To optimise the acoustics in the room, we selected a special acoustic, low-maintenance floor and the innovative HeartFelt Panel Ceiling System by HunterDouglas. The slats, made of sound-absorbing felt instead of metal, provide a sleek look while reducing noise. Sustainability is also a key feature: they are 100% recyclable and easily reusable.
Our own lighting plays a central role in this design. The ceiling is equipped with our Rekta 20 and Rekta 40 light lines, which are fully custom-made to integrate seamlessly into the design of the slats. The Rekta 40 even replaces an entire slat, ensuring perfect alignment and an uninterrupted aesthetic. The chosen colour—a dark khaki green—is both unique and timeless, perfectly complementing the minimalist character of the space.

Smart lighting options
Functionality always comes first at Multiline, and the new cafeteria is no exception. The lighting is separately controllable, allowing for the creation of different atmospheres. This flexibility is not only ideal for lunch breaks but also for presentations or training sessions. For instance, accent lighting can be used during a presentation, or a cosy setting can be created for a team event. Last summer, we even cheered on our national team during the European Football Championship in this very space.
In addition, the light lines with plexi diffusers and built-in spotlights add extra versatility. These types of solutions are frequently applied in our projects and are particularly well-suited for multifunctional spaces.

Our cafeteria is a great example of how we at Multiline combine functional design, acoustics, and lighting into a timeless and inspiring whole.
