Premium lighting for new large-scale Meditech building
Meditech, a Belgian specialist in pharmacy robots, has recently opened a brand-new facility in Izegem. The modern office building includes a ground floor with a cafeteria and presentation area, topped by three levels of office space. Our task? To design a lighting plan that perfectly matches the architecture, functional needs, and aesthetic wishes of the client.
Due to Meditech’s rapid international growth and the great success of its technological solutions, there was a need for increased production capacity. This led to the development of a new headquarters, comprising both an office building and a production site with an adjacent warehouse – a large-scale, ambitious project.
Thoughtfully designed office lighting
To achieve a sleek and consistent aesthetic throughout the office building, the client chose our Rekta 30 SAPP luminaires, which seamlessly integrate into the climate ceilings. This solution ensures a high level of uniformity across all three office floors, with luminaires discreetly recessed into the ceiling. Sustainability was an important factor for Meditech. Rekta 30 not only provides the desired light quality but also offers long-lasting performance and excellent energy efficiency control.
Seamless integration into architecture
The staircase hall stands out as a unique element of the project, featuring an atrium with concrete cross-beam structures in the walls. To emphasize the line pattern in the architecture, we aligned the linear luminaires precisely with one leg of the concrete crosses. This custom solution resulted in a harmonious and visually striking composition. Our lighting architects were given the freedom to determine the placement of the light lines, allowing us to create a seamless transition between the corridor and the staircase hall. Through detailed lighting calculations, we achieved the perfect balance between ambiance and functionality.
Another important aspect of the project was the integration of emergency lighting. We seamlessly incorporated the emergency lighting into the overall lighting design of the circulation areas, resulting in a clear, minimalist appearance with no unnecessary fixtures. Everything was connected to a DALI-controlled building management system, ensuring maximum control and energy efficiency.
In addition to the lighting within the office building, our lighting architects also handled the exterior lighting along the extended driveway next to Meditech’s warehouse. For this, our Tube 70 luminaires were mounted vertically onto the fence structure.
An efficient collaboration with engineering firm and installer
The planning phase was critical – especially for the staircase hall, where precise measurements could only be taken after the space was fully completed. This demanded flexibility and swift adjustments to our production schedule to deliver the luminaires on time. Close collaboration with DKE (De Keyser Elektrotechniek) and engineering firm Istema ensured smooth execution of the project. Thanks to custom solutions, thoughtful coordination, and strong partnerships, Meditech now benefits from an advanced lighting system that perfectly supports its operations.
